Vinyl letters will adhere to painted wood, painted metal, glass, fiberglass and some plastic surfaces. The surface must be smooth. Painted surfaces must be completely cured before applying vinyl. Surfaces painted with oil based enamels work best. Vinyl letters do not work well on surfaces painted with flat latex paints. If applying to interior walls they should be painted with a semi-gloss paint.

Vinyl letters will not adhere to vehicles or boats that have been waxed. Vinyl letters will not adhere to rough surfaces such as raw wood, chipped/peeling paint, cloth, rubber or unpainted metal.

Your vinyl letters consist of three parts, the top sheet of application tape, the bottom backing sheet and the vinyl letters themselves in the middle. The back side of the vinyl letters have the adhesive on them. All surfaces must be considered dirty and cleaned prior to applying vinyl lettering. Use soap and water to clean most surfaces. Any waxes should be removed with a combination of isopropyl alcohol and water. The surface temperature must be at least 60 °F. to insure a proper installation.

Your letters will come prespaced. You will not have to line up individual letters. We also include a squeegie with each order of vinyl letters. Styles such as outlines and drop shadows are assembled by us. You will not have to struggle with trying to register two pieces of vinyl.

Application Instructions

1. Tape lettering into position with small pieces of masking tape.	2. Apply masking tape along top edge to serve as a hinge.	3. Lift all three layers up and remove the backing material. Spray the surface lightly with application fluid. This will help prevent air bubbles later.

4. Hold on to lettering, bringing it into position. Let it drape slightly, but not touch the surface. Allow the adhesive side of the letters to touch just as pressure is being applied. Apply firm pressure to the vinyl with the squeegie. Begin at top center and work down and outward to each edge. Do not put the letters down all at once. It should be a gradual process.		5. Hint: On larger lettering it is easier to cut between the letters and apply them in several pieces instead of one piece.

6. Burnish all of the lettering with the squeegie one more time. The letters should be adhered to the surface. The last step is to remove the top sheet of application tape. Carefully peel the top sheet of application tape off at a 45° angle. If the letters start to peel up, work them down again with the squeegie. If there are any bubbles present most of them will disappear as the application fluid dries. Puncture any large bubbles with a pin and work the fluid out.

CARE OF LETTERING: Wash gently with soap and water. Never Power Wash. It will chip and/or remove the letters. Do not get gasoline, solvents or oil on the letters. It will destroy them.
